No butts about it—we’re recycling cigarette litter, and rewarding you for your help! Earn $1 for your organization for every pound of cigarette waste you send in to be recycled with TerraCycle.
For a limited time, TerraCycle will be donating $1 per pound of cigarette waste to KAB affiliates, CLPP grantees and other select environmental charities when they recycle through this program!

This incentive is available for KAB affiliates, CLPP grantees, and environmental nonprofits. Enrollment limits apply. The incentive will run from November 15, 2023 to February 28, 2025. This bonus incentive is in addition to the $1 per pound that Keep America Beautiful already receives through the program to support its CLPP initiatives. Please note, you must redeem a minimum of 2,500 TerraCycle points (or $25).
Did you know cigarette butts are the world’s most littered item, with about 4.5 trillion cigarettes discarded each year worldwide and 9.7 billion cigarette butts discarded along roadways and waterways in the United States? And most cigarette filters are made of plastic fibers, which don’t break down naturally and will persist in our environment when littered.
Removing this litter from our communities through organized cleanups and cigarette receptacles is just the beginning of keeping cigarette butts out of our parks and waterways. By recycling cigarette waste with TerraCycle, you’ll be giving these materials a new life instead of sending them to landfills and incinerators.
1. Create a TerraCycle account and join this program. Then reuse any box you have to start collecting your cigarette waste.

2. When your box is full, sign in to your TerraCycle account to download and print a prepaid shipping label.
3. Follow the special shipping instructions below. Then seal your box, affix the prepaid shipping label, and send it to us to be recycled.
